Kazi – Yetu
Women in Tanzania and more broadly in Africa are often limited to farming activities, rarely involved further in income generating activities in agriculture. Kazi Yetu (‘Our Work’ in Swahili) is a women-owned social enterprise producing and packaging organic tea, herbs, and spices. As a B Corp company, Kazi Yetu trains farmers on regenerative agriculture, provides inputs and equipment for processing, especially targeting women farmers, and runs an all-women tea factory in Dar es Salaam. In partnership with a tea cooperative in the Usambara Mountains, Kazi Yetu has established a specialty tea processing facility that multiplies farmer income through value addition and direct market linkages. With a growing distribution in Tanzania, Europe, USA, and the Middle East, targeting high-end grocery stores, hotels, gift shops, and airports, as well as a premium bulk trading arm, Kazi Yetu is improving the international competitiveness and reputation for African consumer goods products.
